How early for return flight from Newark?

We're sailing Jul 3 on Summit out of Cape Liberty. What's the earliest I can safely book our flight home from Newark? Celebrity has us docking at 8am.

I would say Noon or thereafter.  I'm surprised with the 8am docking, but our 10 July cruise shows the same.  Usually they arrive back around 5am.  Maybe it's a "clearing customs" thingy with Bayonne CHP.

You never know what could happen.  The good thing is traffic not likely an issue Bayonne to Newark.  Just slow M-F.

FWIW, we always just get a room at the BWestern and take their shuttle to the NYC train.  A couple days in the city is great.

And I do agree with noon.  You never know when the ship will be delayed, an issue clearing with CBP, an issue with something (once delayed 2 hours as there was a police hostage situation in the terminal)  give yourself enough time so you don't stress out.

Thanks @arizonawildcat I grew up in NYC and always hated it there, so no interest in sticking around the city. But we'll make sure we get an afternoon flight.
