How early can I get off the ship at a port of call? Civitavecchia.

I would agree with the above.  In European ports, I find that there is usually very little delay.  If they truly arrive at 7am, it usually only takes 20-30 minutes to get the paperwork done and to set up the ramps and to get security personnel and that ship photographer in place to do their jobs.  If the ship arrives early by some chance, you might even be walking off at 7:00 am.

I always like to get off right away and get on my way, so I'm usually well fed and watching the activity on the pier by the time we approach the dock.  As they announce they are ready to let passengers off, I'm in the stairwell on my way down.
