Canceling shore excursion- credit card refund

We decided to cancel our excursion through Carnival and go with a independent tour company. We received a email from Carnival saying tour has been canceled and refund is being processed but due to covid ..... there is a delay. If you have cancelled a online purchase , how long did you have to wait to see the refund on the credit card? Just trying to avoid having to pay for the purchase and then asking for a check from the credit card company. Thanks!

It was probably refunded to your shipboard account.

I cancelled an excursion while on board the Legend in March and it showed up as OBC on my statement. I cancelled an excursion for my October cruise and it took about 5 days to show up as a credit on my credit card.
