MSC Virtuosa onboard currency

Hi does anybody know, (I would prefer it not to be guesses), what the onboard currency is going to be for the MSC Virtuosa cruises departing from Southampton this summer? Last August I was expecting it to be Euros and took plenty with me, (for casino etc), it turned out to be British Pounds sterling. I am fully aware that you can charge to your account or withdraw money against a card, however, that only benefits the cruise company and card provider as the exchange rates are heavily weighed against you, it can work out very expensive.

According to the FB group it has gone back to GBP now that Virtuosa is back in Southampton.

We’re on the 13th May sailing to the Fjords and have some OBC in Euros, anyone know how this will work if the on board currency is GB£?

From what I've read they have just switched things like drink prices form euros to pounds .ie, a drink that was 13 euros is now £13. Maybe they will do the same with obc.

On my ticket it lists my 50 euro OBC as £40 so they are stiffing me if using 1:1 for prices on the ship.

Maybe not then:classic_ohmy:, just going by what people are saying about the drink prices. I guess we'll all find out for sure next week.

Hi Kernow sorry not got back to you cc went a bit weird before we left port I did post but its not on there. Anyway been at sea for 2 days just arrived in Lisbon. I don't use my phone at all on sea days.

Embarkation we got on in 45 mins. No covid testing but they were definitely going through the paperwork to make sure you had what was required. We had priority being Diamond and Aurea. 😊

45 mins sounds good, we are in YC so hopefully will be fairly smooth for us too. Glad to hear that they had priority for Aurea and Diamond, on the other site there seems to be some dispute about that with many people missing it.

Hope you are having a fab time and making good use of that hot tub😄

Thanks all. Just looked on my ‘MSC for me’ app and it now shows €50 - £40 so I’ll wonder no more. Can’t believe that we have a 10am boarding time!

I think it's going to be busy at 10am, lots of us seem to have it.

A lot of people had 10 11 & 12 slots on our cruise and we were still watching people people board after 1 but between 2 & 4 there didn't seem to be anyone else boarding but I wasn't looking all the time. Not sure if everyone was adhearing to their boarding slots though. Msc dont really check. Our cruise is no where near full either,  I've yet to get a numbers as boarding has happen today in Lisbon and some people have disembark too. At some point I will find out how many are on board. Anyway we are departing in 10mins and another sea day tomorrow. 🌞😎
