Rare 1kaper Posted June 3, 2022 #77 Share Posted June 3, 2022 This was a fantastic review. Loved it. You are definitely our kind of cruiser. We've been debating what trip we will take in November. I was thinking we might do a cruise and not even get off at ports so was looking for a different ship experience. I was even considering Havana (or MSC Yacht Club for a short trip) but after reading this, I think we are sold on an ABC cruise. How was the Havana interior? Worth it?

We did this same cruise on 4-29/5-6. We had a Havana Interior and Loved it. It was extra dark so set an alarm if you have to get up early. On the 1st sea day we slept until about 9:30, because it was so dark. The Havana pool are is awesome, by the end of the cruise you will have meet several new friends. The ABC Islands were just as wonderful as TxTeach is describing and the pictures do not do justice to the blue seas. I highly suggest you do this cruise. TxTeach, thanks for such a great review!! 2

Can't recommend the ABCs enough... @Atx lady is spot on, the pictures don't do it justice! We were in a standard interior on this sailing, but I'd be all over trying a Havana room someday! Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 4, 2022 Author #80 Share Posted June 4, 2022 Spotted at the RFRB…. Feels like 80’s RnG may be in the air…. I sure hope so anyway IMG_7597.MOV
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 4, 2022 Author #81 Share Posted June 4, 2022 I love these color changing cube tables fun fact it took me way too long to realize: Red’s Remedy at the RFRB is the same thing as the Remedy at Alchemy in a less fancy glass with no garnish. Boy, do I feel dumb. But hydrated! And happy! This dude is READY

I've been meaning to get to this, but with the school year winding down rather chaotically I've been a bit behind! My gf and I were lucky enough to spend Spring Break '22 on the Horizon out of Miami, the Aruba/Curacao/Amber Cove run, so I just wanted to post some after the fact goodies and answer any questions I can still recall the answers to #blameCheers. Plus, I just kinda want to relive the 8 days while counting down the minutes til our Miracle Alaska cruise in June. Anywho, onward and upward! Time for my awkward technique of posting pictures to the thread on my phone, then going back and editing the posts on my laptop since I don't like typing on my phone nearly as much. BUT ENOUGH ABOUT ME! Let's get to it! Do you live in Denton? I noticed that Mean Green profile pic…

Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 4, 2022 Author #88 Share Posted June 4, 2022 The thing about sleeping in is that you gotta make that decision…. Do I get breakfast now, or enjoy my coffee, wait a bit, and hit lunch asap. Question answered. #flavortown #orderup that stamp is 🔥
Rare TxTeach79 Posted June 4, 2022 Author #89 Share Posted June 4, 2022 Not gonna lie. Dont love La Romana. We went hard yesterday. I love having ship days when everyone is off. Sooooo, here’s La Romana. This is what I’ve got. I’m okay. No Ragrets (or however he spelled the tattoo in we’re the millers) we had a great pool day and talked to a guy who owns a pinball machine repair shop in Cleveland. How ya gonna beat that?

Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Aruba and Bonaire. Told DH about your review and Aruba, he said he's wanted to go so it was on. We found this itinerary and the timing worked better. We both love Grand Turk and I really loved HMC. Deposit was paid today. So now I need to know what to do in Bonaire.

Luvsnorkeling Posted July 7, 2022 #93 Share Posted July 7, 2022 No way, man! DO NOT stay on the ship if you love to snorkel or dive! Bonaire is a snorkeler's and diver's paradise!! At least 40 places where you can just wade in from shore and see some of the best reef and fish in the Caribbean!! Take the Sea Cow water taxi out to Klein Bonaire. If they still do it, ask them to drop you offshore. Then swim in close, and the easy current will float you down to the little beach area. Then wait for the water taxi to come back and pick you up and take you back to town. You'll be amazed at the beauty and may get lucky and see some turtles!
SugarStar00 Posted July 8, 2022 #94 Share Posted July 8, 2022 Thanks for the review! We are looking to book the same itinerary in the spring. My only complaint is you mixing Blanton’s with soda!! 😱😉 cheers!
JillinCalgary Posted July 8, 2022 #95 Share Posted July 8, 2022 Another great and enjoyable review! You are getting me so excited about our upcoming Cruise.. 15 days and counting! I have to say eating at Ji Ji's (I've never been, but I'm thinking asian cuisine, and seafood heavy) hungover gave my tummy a little flip flop... I absolutely couldn't handle that, and I am a big seafood lover lol We have reservations there one night and I was already a little stressed my boys won't be big fans... seeing your pictures I now know for certainty they won't be lol 🤷♀️ Oh well, it's not all about them lol we also have steakhouse resos which is right up their alley! And regardless, this will give them the perfect opportunity for guilt free late night burgers or pizza! Haha!
Retired20 Posted July 28 #96 Share Posted July 28 Thanks for doing this review. I liked seeing the pictures of places around the ship. We were on a Carnival ship ( I can’t remember which one ) when they had the meet up at sea. I was excited to do it and it was pretty cool, but not exactly how I had pictures it. I think that happened during my spring break ( I taught for 47 years before retiring and since my school always had an early spring break, we always sailed then). I would never cruise the Caribbean during summer. Too many kids.
TexasRed Posted September 14 #97 Share Posted September 14 I'm late to the party, killing time on a Saturday afternoon until the Oklahoma game starts and searched for reviews for Horizon. We'll be doing this cruise in a few weeks so I'm gorging n reviews till then. I'm really interested in that sunset sail in Aruba, did you book independently or through Carnival? I agree, the month of May is rough, we have an AP in our family, as well as one that works in HR for a Dallas area ISD, her super-busy months are August and September, but the same insanity applies.

Thanks - and best wishes to your educator family members, those are tough positions for sure! This tour was actually through Carnival. We had a late night departure (10p I believe) and the sunset cruise worked perfectly for us.
