Norwegian Fjords cruise - excursion sold out

We were able to book the excursion that we wanted for this July. Our friends went in to book the same and now it says sold out. Based on your experience, when this happens, does it ever become available again?

Can they call to get on a waiting list?

I'm from Norway myself (though living in the neighbour country Sweden). Norway is a small country (only around 5 million inhabitants); probably there is a shortage of coaches/buses etc when those mega-big cruise vessels are entering the fjords of Norway 🙄
