HAL said they will be done in Norfolk at the end of 2006.

"In the fall, Holland America Line said 2006 would be its last year in Norfolk because it is consolidating its Northeast ports in New York. Holland America’s departure hit especially hard because its 1,258-passenger Maasdam ship accounts for 17 of the 28 sailings scheduled from Norfolk this year.

Norfolf has a new Cruise Terminal Opening in March of 2007 but none of the cruise lines have scehdule ships out of their on a regular basis. Here is the article...

But you have to remember that over the 3 years that HAL has sailed out of Norfolk, there have been many, many problems - ship arriving back very late - people missing flights - hotels to arrange for all the messes - and not everyone could drive there and many used HAL's air - so HAL had to pick a lot of bills.

It just didn't work out.

Dec. 11th to Dec. 22nd, 2006 is the "Last" RT from Norfolk. I'm going to be on that voyage. Can't wait to meet the "infamous", Shy.

The Holiday Cruise on Maasdam that leaves on the 22nd from Norfolk is in reality just a 2-day "repositioning cruise " to Ft. Lauderdale where it will depart for its "regular" 11 day Caribbean cruises from Dec. 24th on.
