It is when a ship does a one way cruise from one location to another to start making regular runs out of the new location. These are usually done in the spring or fall as the routes change to/from Alaska or to/from Europe.:)

And if you look at the itineraries for most of the repositioning cruises, you'll find more sea days/fewer ports than a non-repositioning cruise. I'm not stating that as a fact;) just what I've noticed looking at itineraries, and of course, logically it makes sense to me:D Often some great prices too!!
