MSC Yacht Club Excels Others and Fosters a Better Blue Mind

What tips do you have for us to truly enjoy the best that YC offers?

Here is another positive that we have encountered on both Yacht Club and the Retreat and I do not think it has to do with tipping extra, but it just might. Never worry about being closed out of any fully booked venue, there is always room for suite guests. Just ask your host/butler and concierges, they excel at these requests. Noticed also that Holas specialty restaurant had an 'all you can eat' for $18.99 for lunch when everyone got off the ship in port yesterday.

Here is another dread to watch out for. A gentleman on FB posted his bill, he felt ill on his cruise and reported to sick bay. He tested negative and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. His bill from the medical center was just about $3000. Had it been covid $ 0. Perhaps we should all bring our own home test kits with us before we visit sick bay ? Especially if not carrying insurance ? Though he was on another cruise line, not MSC.

Tips just keeps popping into my mind.

Since we travel in the Yacht Club we see no reason to dine anywhere else. We request the same waiter/ assistant for the entire week. We tip in the YC restaurant as if it were any fine restaurant on land. If we were to go to the "Pancake House" for breakfast we would tip $5 for a breakfast for two. Lunch at "Gianni's Italian Restaurant", $10 for two. Dinner at the "New York Prime", $20 for two. (Just as a rule of thumb). Since sometimes our waiters are delegated to other duties on port days we tip the relief waiter these amounts after the meal. So it rounds out to $200 for each waiter/assistant for the 7 day cruise. The sommelier, in our case, should not 'suffer' because DW and I drink only bottled water so we tip them $20 for their effort. On the pool deck your personal butler can be elusive (attending to the other 12 cabin prima donnas, like ourselves) so the pool attendants are instrumental to ones enjoyment on the one pool deck, (a pocket of $5's is advised and does 'miracles').

Sometimes one just has to 'prime the pump' in order to get the water to start flowing in the right direction.

I was taught by a staff member that the first thought of any cruiser is to count the number of steps from ones cabin door to the nearest fire escape. In the event of no lights one must be able to escape in the dark.

Why we are Yacht Club aficionados.

For 40 years we cruised in 2 lowers on the inside. No loyalty to any cruise line. Booked for itinerary all over the world. Today we no longer fly and drive to our port to take cruises only in suites and do not get off the ship. Stopped sailing RCCL Coastal Kitchen and NCL Haven due to having to wait for available table in suite dedicated restaurants allowing non suite Pinnacles or any non-suite guest to purchase their way into a meal in these suite venues. Give them their own venues. We already are spending more for suites and do not want to fight for a seat and time slots with non-suite guests in our venues.

You all may still be too young to be spoiled so early in life. Take it slow and easy. Work your ways up to the best life has to offer. Too much of the best in life at an early age can damage your pysche later on.

Some not to be missed entertainment. Every 45 minute show in the Madison theatre. Two of which have always garnered standing ovations from the audiences, "Amore" and "Born in the USA". Le Cabaret Rouge shows are more intimate with 2 great vocalists and 5 dancers loosely themed to great painters' art as back drops. Though on this cruise the guests have become a little 'jaded'. Did not experience the jumping up, standing ovation in last night's performance as in Jan, Feb, March, and May. Alas, how quickly we take for granted our good times.

We were on the Equinox in August 2021 when a couple forgot to change their watches and the ship was going to leave without them. The Guest Services officers went to their cabin and retrieved their passports and were just about to turn their passports over to the ship's land agent for that port who was tasked with waiting for these passengers when the ship left. A cry arose from the passengers as the two were seen running for the ship.

Am presently onboard. Posting under a new thread "Is That All There Is ?" And am coming to the grand conclusion that the YC on this Seashore is all there is. Do not bother to reserve any pergolas at the One Pool Deck as with 290 YC guests there are many available and guests are using them on a first come first serve basis without paying. One can tell if the pergolas are reserved by the pool attendants 'fixing' them up with towels and drinks ahead of time. Haven't seen anyone removed for 'squatting'. Might be a different story at Ocean Cay.  Find tipping $ invaluable on any cruise ship to get the service flowing in our direction (before, during and at the end of the cruise). Not going to spend $10,000 on one week cruise to save $1500 on extra tips. This turns a so-so experience into a Royal experience.

Perfection!  I will head to that thread and get updated on your recent adventures.  Thanks!

If we see you on a future cruise I will have my hand out (palm up).  Please don't forget this retired civil servant.
