jss5200 Posted June 6, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2022 As it's getting closer to time to book excursions for our Viking Homelands cruise in late August, we have a question about getting a refund on an excursion that is booked as soon as booking opens up. If you book and pay for the excursion (by credit card or e check) before boarding and decide once you get on the ship to cancel, do you get a credit to your shipboard account or do you get a refund to your credit card or your bank account depending on the payment method you used? If we had to get a credit I'm sure that can be used at the end of the cruise to pay for your onboard tips. However, a complete refund would be nicer. I'm sure all you experienced Viking Ocean cruisers can quickly answer this. Thanks for your advice!
Rare Peregrina651 Posted June 6, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2022 (edited) For changes made before you sail, it goes back to the bank/credit card. For changes made once you are on board, it goes on your shipboard account. Any balance on the shipboard account is refunded to the credit card attached to your on board account. Also note that there is a pre-cruise black out period of seven days when you cannot make any changes on MVJ. So, make sure that if you are contemplating any changes to be made prior to boarding that it gets done at least 8 days before sailing. Shorex booked for DAY 2 are kind of a catch-22 when it comes to cancelling since shorex must be cancelled 36 hours in advance -- and if you try to cancel as soon as you board, it still isn't 36 hours in advance. If you have made up your mind about cancelling DAY2, best to get it done before you board. Edited June 6, 2022 by Peregrina651
