Can you decline an upgrade offer once it is accepted? I had a friend who thought all suites had balconies. he got upgraded to an SQ that is huge but no balcony.

Once your upgrade bid is accepted and you've been notified, NCL has already charged your credit card and has your money. You're also usually within days or a few weeks at most when notified, so way beyond final payment. So my guess would be no.

No, you can't decline an upgrade offer once it is accepted, but you could try calling to see if it's possible to exchange the huge room with no balcony for something with a balcony, even if it's a bit smaller.  If they say no all you are out is the couple hours on hold waiting to talk to rep.

When we were on the Joy this past February, we met a family that won their upgrade bid for that same suite.  They also did not realize it had no balcony when bidding.   When they got on board they of course realized it then and went to Guest Relations where they were able to change back to their original cabin category.   However, this was February when the ships were sailing practically empty.

Was their payment refunded or were they just given good service and switched to an available empty room?
