Shaq, this is how you do my bacon?
Old Fart Cruisers replied to soremekun's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I was on a 21-day B2B on Legend (8/28 to 9/18) on of Dover. The bacon was great. Very lean, almost no fat. It was like a cross between bacon and breakfast ham. I assume this was just how they do bacon in the UK. They served a few different types of breakfast sausage. I tried all varieties that the served, and all of them were disgusting. Maybe it's a British thing (bangers?), but I couldn't eat any them. All of them were bad enough to gag a maggot🤮🤢. -

So now every time I ask for two slices of bacon, they pile the plate up with a clump of about 10 slices, and most of it goes to waste. How is that saving any money? -
What If I Do My On-Line Check-In "Late"?
Old Fart Cruisers replied to Mike45LC's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Arrival time is not your boarding time. Even if you arrive early, you still have to wait until boarding starts. Then they start boarding in order, Weddings, then Diamond, then Platinum, then FTTF. -

There is no point in arriving that early, but for some reason, there are always people who enjoy sitting an a crowded terminal building waiting for boarding to start🤪. -

It depends on the port, customs, what time the ship gets clearance to disembark, how long disembarkation actually takes to zero out the count, Etc. -
What If I Do My On-Line Check-In "Late"?
Old Fart Cruisers replied to Mike45LC's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
NO. We will not be able to accommodate guests who show up earlier than their selected window. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1380/~/priority-check-in "I missed checking in on time for the first ever since being platinum" LOL. Carnival doesn't track how many times you missed checking in on time. It doesn't matter if if was your first time ever, or if you do it it every time. Carnival will not be able to accommodate guests who show up earlier than their selected window. Would it really ruin your cruise if you cant show up an hour earlier? -

I didn't want that boring gray, so I went a very interesting color midway between black and silver. -

As Platinum, you can check in online 48 hours ahead of other guests, but that does NOT give you special privilege to just show up any time you want. They will not be able to accommodate guests who show up earlier then their selected arrival window. Carnival’s Priority Check-in is an exclusive service designed to afford our VIFP Diamond, Platinum and deluxe suite guests with special embarkation and debarkation privileges on cruises from the U.S. and Europe. Priority Check-in is not offered for Carnival Journeys cruises. Minors traveling with parents who have Priority Check-in in separate staterooms, may check in together using this exclusive service. Priority guests will be given access to Online Check-in to select their terminal arrival appointments 48 hours ahead of all other guests. When completing Online Check-in, guests must select a terminal arrival appointment that works best with their plans. For a better embarkation experience, guests are asked to adhere to that arrival time. We will not be able to accommodate guests who show up earlier than their selected window. If Priority guests arrive later than their selected window, they will be accommodated in the Priority line. Upon arrival to the terminal, guests must look for the Priority line to check-in. Terminals with dedicated Priority seating areas may have limited space. Depending on arrival patterns, seats will be available on a first come, first served basis. Regardless of seating location, Priority guests will still be able to take advantage of Priority boarding. Once on board, if staterooms are not ready, Priority guests will be permitted to drop off luggage in their stateroom. Guests will be asked to return to the public areas of the ship as our team completes its work. Towards the end of the cruise, Priority guests will receive a letter, with special luggage tags, offering debarkation options. -

Legend - Cherry on Top question
Old Fart Cruisers replied to Raisinette's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
You can also pick some up at almost every port and won't have any problems bringing them on board. -
We just did a B2B on Legend. The first part was our 25th, and as we expected, we got the one-time special milestone card with the red & blue stripe. What was totally unexpected was that on the second cruise of the B2B (number 26), we also got the ONE-TIME special milestone card. I never expected that linking the two cruises would cause both to get the fancy card.☺️

Legend - Cherry on Top question
Old Fart Cruisers replied to Raisinette's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I just got off of the Legend on Sunday. I didn't see any salty snacks like Pringles. I received a $30.00 certificate for Cherry on Top from the casino, late on the last night of the cruise, that I had to use before they closed. I was able to get about $10 worth of candy with that certificate😁. -
Carnival got more expensive for solos, right?
Old Fart Cruisers replied to kad56's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
1. Yes 2. Correct, as far as it relates to new pricing, but I can't confirm if you have any vision related issues. 3. Not enough data. -
I thought they were collecting them from everyone, but now that I read the email again it's only for "all non-European region guest" To prepare for immigration processing in Dun Laoghaire (Dublin), Ireland, we will be collecting passports for all non-European region guests during the check-in process at the cruise terminal in Dover. A receipt will be provided for each passport, and details about re-distribution will be provided on board.
-
We just got off the Legend in Dover doing a B2B (7/28-8/9 & 8/9-8/18.) They collected everyone's passwords on this cruise (8/9-8/18) because it was going to the Republic of Ireland (Cobh and Dun Laoghaire, but couldn't tender into Dun Laoghaire due to roughseas). The passports were available for pick-up the day after we were supposed to visit Dun Laoghaire, with a stamp from Cobh (the first time I've had had a passport stamped since pre-covid). We also visited Belfast, Northern Ireland on this cruise, but our passports had already been returned before we arrived there. Passports were NOT collected on the 7/28-8/9 cruise.

I always keep my current driver's license and passport in the safe and carry an expired driver's license in port. I keep it in a clear plastic sleeve, back to back with my ship card, carried in my front pocket (NEVER visable on a lanyard). I've never had an issues. I only carry a passport when we are in a port that requires it.

Bring liquor aboard on Legend out of Dover
Old Fart Cruisers replied to johnboy036's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
-
It depends on the port and the ship's itinerary. Some ports will require a passport to get off the ship. Currently on a B2B on the Legend sailings out of Dover. We had to have our passports with us last week in one port. This cruise the ship is holding everyone's passports. They said they will be returned after we visit Belfast.

Extending Final Payment Date?
Old Fart Cruisers replied to Badfinger's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I have intentionally left the final payment lapse on a couple cruises, assuming that I would get an email that it was called due to non-payment (only $100 deposit). Instead I received emails for around three weeks, that there was still time to prevent the cruise from being canceled. It may have been that there were still plenty of unsold cabins on those cruises, and if they were sold out our cruises would have canceled on the day payment was due. -
My wife has had good luck using ginger root capsules. They help with nausea without any drowsiness.
