How are the beds on the Getaway (in regular cabins)?  Are they hard, uncomfortable? 
I’ve cruised many times on Royal and a few yrs back they changed all the beds with no toppers. They’re hard like sleeping on a concrete floor!  
 

if these are also hard, can I ask for toppers?

Sailed on the Getaway last October and had no problems. You might be able to ask for a topper but I found the beds to be quite comfortable. Of course there is always the split in the middle.

Got off end of May had topper  on ours.

 

if booking balcony beware they have 2 configuration bed near window or not that later is a pain to get into the closet .

I booked a club balcony suite for my upcoming Getaway cruise and read that the beds in that category have memory foam mattresses - can someone confirm or deny?

I do not think so. Mattress in our club balcony in September was fine, but I don't think it was memory foam

Same for me in May.  Very comfortable.

I agree Royal beds are hard. We sailed on Getaway in March. Our mattress was firm, but with the egg crate topper it was comfortable. While we were in Port Canaveral, I noticed a lot of mattresses in large dumpsters on the pier. Room stewards were in hall with brand new mattresses. You might get lucky and have a new mattress. They looked like nice thick mattresses. If they are too firm, toppers are available. The room stewards on NCL are very accommodating.

I wonder if there’s a way to pre-order a topper for my room so I know I actually get one. With Royal I had a direct email address just for that.

I’d rather an ending than wait on the phone forever. Anyone know?

The drink package largely eliminates any need for mattress "adjustments." 😎  Last month I woke up at 6:00 am sharp on a daily basis after a great night's sleep.

Ask your cabin attendant when you board - that is the quickest way
