Kobra_Kommandor Posted June 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2022 Hey there, we will need to get from the cruise terminal to the Blue Star ferry terminal in Athens in a few weeks and the fare is too short for a cab and too long to walk with luggage. What are our options? I've read that there is a shuttle that will take you from cruise port to ferry port but those were old forum posts. Is the shuttle still a thing? and how do we sign up? Thanks in advance!!!
Rare Hlitner Posted June 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2022 We had a similar situation last August when we needed to go from the cruise pier to a ferry pier located near the train station. I am not exactly sure where Blue Star's pier is located, but it is likely in that area. Depending on which terminal you cruise ship docks makes a big difference in distance but walking (especially from the more distant cruise terminal) is a real hike when dragging luggage. When we got off our cruise ship we simply asked a taxi to take us to our Ferry. The first driver we asked said "no problem" and I think it cost us about 10 Euros. Keep in mind we came off a small cruise ship that only had about 200 folks disembarking. There is no shuttle to get you to the various ferry piers. The only shuttle, of which we are aware, runs between the two cruise terminal areas and that was not even running last August. You might get some resistance from the taxis because of the short distance (and low fare) but money is always an equalizer. If the drivers do not want the short haul you can just quietly offer them Euros. These days it might cost you up to 20 Euros...but whatever it costs it is worth it to avoid the long walk with luggage. By the way, when we got to our Ferry area (almost across the road from the train station) we had a couple of hours to kill. Inside the ferry port there was a restaurant/snack bar and we walked over to that place and relaxed at an outdoor table with coffee. Enjoy your trip.
