Airlines used by Regent to South America?

 Share

Recommended Posts

We have a large credit for airfare due to a Covid canceled trip.  We can use it to get to Buenos Aires and return from Rio on American Airlines, business class for $1000 out of pocket.  Of course, we will get a price reduction of $4000 per person for dropping the airfare with Regent.

My husband is concerned that Regent uses Copa or LATAM for its included flights--both airlines have poor reviews and are considered to be on the edge of bankrupcty.

Any advice appreciated.

Pat

This information is somewhat dated--preCOVID expeiences--but

Regent utilized Delta on our last two cruises involving a return from South America.  These were Santiago, Chile via L.A. to SEATAC; and most-recently (2016) Rio via Atlanta to SEATAC.  Business Class on international segment(s); 1st Class on domestic legs.

GOARMY!

We are flying to Buenos Aires on Dec 9th and Regent booked us on United all the way - Denver to Houston and Houston to Buenos Aires.  We will be on the cruise to Miami so didn't have any return from South America to contend with.  However, last time we flew from Rio (2018) it was American Airlines all the way.

This also is pre-covid.  Regent flew us back from Guayaquil on American, but contracts change, and obviously some drastically.

BTW, the one time we flew ourselves to Rio, we in fact flew Copa, and it was okay.  No lie-flats in those days, but a pretty good deal for a decent business seat. It helped that we were living in Florida at the time, so Copa was easy.

Thank you for the responses.  We have decided to use our credit, pay the extra, and cancel the flights through Regent.  American Airlines.  Lay flat seats DFW to Buenos Aires and same Rio to New York.  And coach to from LAX
