Just booked the TRU by Hilton  44 N Federal Highway in Ft. Lauderdale.

We will need a stop at a Supermarket or Wine/Liquor store.

Is there something within walking distance or will we have to Uber/Lyft?

Thanks!

Ellen

There is a Publix Supermarket about three and a half blocks away, on Dania Beach Boulevard, on the south side of the street. (The hotel is not actually in Fort Lauderdale). Publix carries wines and beers, in addition to regular groceries. That particular location may not carry as much higher end wines as select other locations, such as Southport/Port Everglades.

Please be exceedingly careful crossing Dania Beach Boulevard (DBB). There is a tendency for drivers to not pay the greatest attention to the traffic light at the intersection  of US1 and DBB. There have been numerous accidents over the years, including one that killed my friend, who was a pedestrian at the time.

The hotel is actually located in Dania Beach, just south of FLL on Federal Highway. It’s literally five minutes south of the airport. You can easily walk to Publix Supermarket which is located east of Federal Highway, on Dania Beach Blvd. The area is mainly residential with a few restaurants within walking distance. There’s an Italian restaurant in Dania Beach Blvd which is close to the supermarket. Jaxsons is a popular ice cream joint that also serves hot dogs and hamburgers on Federal Highway, a few blocks south of the hotel. Grampas Restaurant is a popular place that specializes in breakfasts.it also has a bakery. Unfortunately it closes early so you wouldn’t be able to have dinner there but I would definitely have breakfast there  before you head over to Port Everglades. Grampas was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive In’s and Dives many years ago.
