ArriveCAN redux

Recommended Posts

Having made some progress with the original poster's question, here is another puzzle to chew on.

We are arriving in Vancouver from the US next month  and will do Arrivcan app prior to arrival

. Got it.

We remain in Canada for the next 11 days doing a train trip. We return to Vancouver and get on a HAL ship. After 3 days we get off in Skagway and stay on land in US for 3 more days before arriving in the Yukon for 3 days. We then return to Alaska for the remaining 6 days, flying home from Anchorage.

So do we also redo the app before getting on the ship and before we reach the Yukon? So 3 times all together?

Appreciate your thoughts on this!

When we arrived last week, NOBODY even asked to see the ArriveCAN - never had to show anything to anyone so there's that too. What a hassle!

Yes....  100% total hassle, completely ridiculous, and a waste of time and money.

Once you board the ship for the above-mentioned cruise, if that cruise then enters Canada and stops at a Canadian port, you will need to do ArriveCAN before boarding the cruise.  This is the way I understand it.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

No, you will only need to complete the app twice, as you only enter Canada twice.

Your first entry is when you arrive in Vancouver, and a submission is required.

Based on the description of your itinerary, your HAL cruise terminates in Alaska and does not re-enter Canada. Consequently, no ArriveCAN submission is required.

You arrive in Canada for the second time when you enter the Yukon. An ArriveCAN submission is required.

I hope that helps.
