OKCruiseMan Posted July 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2022 We recieved future cruise credits from our recent Crown adventure. Now looking to book a cruise with a large part of the cost covered by FCC. My question has to do with the value of travel insurance. We normally do get insurance but if all it covers is our actual cost it doesn't seem as attractive. Has anyone been down this path before? What do you recommend? SargassoPirate Posted July 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2022 I agree with your assessment. We never buy the cruise line insurance, but prefer to buy an annual travel policy which covers us for road trips more than 150 miles from home. You have to put the pencil to it and see how much you are willing to risk/self-insure.
Babr Posted July 23, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2022 Since COVID, there may be some third-party policies that will cover FCC for cancellation - just not any bonus amounts. Look in the Definitions section for terms like Payments and Deposits or Forms of Payment to see if FCC is included. Sometimes there is a difference in establishing the initial deposit date for establishing eligibility for pre-existing conditions waiver or CFAR. The easiest thing to do is call a professional. Many here recommend tripinsurancestore.com.
