Anyone know if PoA overnight sailings allow you to get on and off the ship 24 hrs? Or does the pier open and close during the overnight hours?

During the overnights, you can get on and off when you want. Just be back in time for departing.

Thanks.  We use Hyatt points and the Hyatt Place is normally our preference.  Sometimes they don't honor points at all locations, so it was looking like the Hyatt Regency for our planned-but-now-aborted October POA itinerary.  We'll just have to see what's what when we again try to finalize a HI itinerary.  I'm committed to planning nothing firm until I have days/weeks of reports of the POA issues being "solved."

Great hotel.

Great location.

Stayed 4 days pre-cruise several years ago. It was undergoing a full renovation at that time.

The answer is yes.

Be aware that the Hawaii piers in Maui, Hilo and Kauai are working cargo ports.  At all 3 you walk thru a large building to get to the port area, where many containers, fork lifts, and trucks operate.

At Maui, the route to get outside the port to the main street is at least 1/2 mile long. (You are protected from traffic by a series of fences)  Once there, you have to cross a busy street to get to the mall parking lot.  At that point, unless you are going to the mall (not open at night), you will have to taxi or Uber to wherever you are going.

At Kauai, the walk is much shorter, (and no fences for protection) but there is not much in the immediate area.  A small park and some small businesses.  Again, a ride to wherever you are going will be needed.

Also, the trucks entering and leaving drive fast, and you have to cross in front of them at one point, but may not be true for late night.
