Extreme dietary needs.

Recommended Posts

We cruise several times a year.  The DH is allergic to onions and garlic.  As you know it’s in everything.

We eat in speciality restaurants, MDR and the windjammer.  In the windjammer he talks to one of the chefs for each meal and they often make him something special but it does take time.  For the speciality restaurants and MDR he goes to discuss it the day before.  This way they can make him something similar to what they are serving.  Sometimes things are pre packaged, not made from scratch and and they can not accommodate him.  ( Soups are sometimes out).

Speaking to special needs isn’t very helpful.  You need to talk to those making the food. We’ve found some ships are easier to work with then others.  Sabor and Giovanni’s were able to feed him with pre planning last week.  His only compliant is when they take out onion and garlic they tend to over salt everything to add flavor.

Special needs is good if you need something on board ship that RC wouldn't normally stock or have available.

And even if you do get things on the radar of Special Needs, you always should go right to the MDR and talk to them the minute you board the ship.
