I am looking to book the Dawn on April 6th.

I was wondering what the 4th deck is like?? This will be our 1st cruise and we do not want to spend a great deal of money. I found a cabin on the 4th deck for 2 people for 2350.00 for everything!!!

I was also wondering it does not give me a cabin number... it says guarantee..... what does that mean???

Please if someone can help me out....let me know is that a good deal, ok room for out 1st cruise

Any info would be great!!!!!!!!

emt9898--We are going on this cruise also, we are on the 8th floor, it is our first time on the dawn so do not know much about the ship. Seems like a good deal, guarantee means that is the lowest you would get in a room but may be upgraded to a higher categoree. Hope to see you there. Only 5 weeks to go!!!

GTY means you are guaranteed a cabin within the category you selected -Your price seems about right for an inside cabin (at least the places I know to look anyway). Was it an Inside GTY you were quoted on? Inside is the most inexpensive so if you end up with a higher category that would be a bonus! The 4th deck should give you a nice smooth ride. The Dawn is a great ship, you'll love her.:)

We've been very fortunate booking the GTY (Guarantee) category, as we've always been upgraded. When booking this category in the hopes of getting upgraded, the general rule of thumb says do not book one which you will be unhappy with in the event the upgrade does not come along. Now that we've gotten some experience cruising, we have a better idea what we want and what we are willing to gamble on. We twice booked GTY 4 on the Dawn and were assigned Deck 10.

Deck 4 on the Dawn is the lowest deck for passengers, but does not have that many cabins. Generally speaking you may have a good chance of being assigned to a higher deck, as the Deck 4 price is the most attractive, and when they sell more cabins at that price than they have available, they have no choice but to bump people up.

If you do not get upgraded, all is not lost, as there are some advantages. First, you are located near the decks used for embarking and disembarking the ship. You are also not far from the Deck 7 atrium area, many of the restaurants, bars, theater, and casino. If you are like many of us, you don't spend too much time in your room anyway. Enjoy the Dawn, it's a huge ship, so you will spend lots of time travelling to and from your cabin no matter where you are. It takes awhile to get your bearings, where the elevators are relative to your cabin, etc., so I wouldn't worry too much about it. The lower decks are also less impacted by rough seas.

We are on deck 4. We could have been upgraded to Deck 10 but we are traveling with friends who are terrified of being seasick so we opted to stay low. Last cruise we were on the 8th deck - didn't feel any motion at all but sailed out of Miami. Truth be told I am a little relieved to be on the lowest deck since we are sailing out of NY:o (I am prone to motion sickness)

We took the Dawn for our first cruise and started out on deck 4 as well. I booked with NCL a full year in advance and paid in full at around 1200 per person for 11 day cruise. Then I started shopping on the net and found an offer for 900 per person. I booked with the net offer then cancelled the NCL booking to save 300 per person! Then when I got my reservation number for the cruise I contacted NCL directly - every two weeks - looking for upgrades. I finally settled on deck 10 for an additional 60 per person. Not a bad deal and it placed is in the middle of the ship. We went with two other couples and they stayed on deck 4 and were very happy.

We had a blast and I cant wait to go on another cruise!

My only advice is to not over pack! Over packing is a disease!

Are you doing the Western or Eastern caribbean? with all those tendering ports, being on deck 4 is at least close to the gangway! (and medical centre) :)

If you don't want to spend a great deal of money, then give it a go and accomodate yourself in a deck 4 cabin, hey ... chances are life is good if you can get yourself on a ship in the first place. :)

Deck 4 cabins seem larger too and don't rock 'n roll too much (i think).

I have booked GTY cabin several times and gotten upgraded. The problem I've had on to seperate occasions is the location of the upgraded cabin. Once I got moved to a cabin directly below the show lounge. We were awoke very early by dancers and bands praticing. Also alot of noize when late night comedy acts were going on. Second time we were upgraded to beautiful inside cabin, but found out each morning that the cabin stewards storage was located directly behind it. Woke up EVERY morning arnd 0600 to them filling there carts and talking. I personally like to sleep later than that on vacation.

We asked each time to be moved, but both times were told the ship was completely full. Since the last incident I always get an assigned cabin so I can see whats above and around me. Even though you have a GTY...you can call them and ask if a cabin has been assigned yet, and still might have time to change it if you think there will be an issue. FYI...got to other GTY cabins and were upgraded to cabins and had no issues at all so might be worth the gamble?

Don't forget to pack earplugs, just in case:)!

I agree about the earplugs, and they also sell them on board.

The only time I've used earplugs was on the Dawn staying in the balcony cabins. If it gets a little rough the cabin creaks!

You should be fine staying on deck 4 especially if it's an inside cabin. The inside cabins all the same, so it does not really matter what deck you are on.;) And if the seas are rough it will be rough all over the ship so just hope for smooth sailing and pack the Bonine, just in case (they also sell it onboard).

That's a good rate for the Dawn and you should have a great time.. Have fun!

I just booked this cruise leaving on the the 26th. I also did the 4th deck GTY room.. At what point will I know what room I am assigned? Should I be calling regularly to ask? or will they let me know? Hopefully I will know before I embark on the ship!! Thanks.

Go to NCL.com and click on the ribbon that says "Booked Guests Register Here". Fill in your names and reservation number and sailing date to begin the process. If your cabin has been assigned, you will see in on the completed form! :D It's necessary to do this at least 14 days prior to sailing, but its best to do it early so you don't forget. Plus, you can go back and refer to it any time you like, to see if your cabin has been assigned, etc.

Happy Sailing! :)

Go to ncl.com and click where it says booked guest register here. Enter in your reservation number and names and when the second page opens up you will either see a cabin number or "gty" if it hasn't been assigned yet.

Normally they assign cabins within two weeks from what I have seen.

Emt~

We have been very lucky with "guarantee" cabins in the past...We don't book that now because we a toddler under 2 and they require a crib....

Anywho~ We are going on this cruise too! I think you got a pretty good rate for 10 days. For us, the real bill is the one we get at the end :) :)

Let me know if oyu have any other questions...

There is a roll call for this sailing as well...
