stoked2cruise Posted August 25, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2022 (edited) Hi! This is my first time ever going on a cruise (round trip to Alaska from Port 91 in Seattle on the Discovery Princess) and I'm thinking about taking my Fujifilm Instax camera that uses their brand of "Polaroid-eqsue" film. Now, it's my understanding that film like that should not go through x-ray machines as it can degrade/cloud the images that are then taken afterwards. I was planning on bringing my camera and extra film in my carry-on to avoid it being scanned by an x-ray in my checked luggage. Since I'm unfamiliar with how security around boarding works and if the process is governed by the port or the cruise line, I'm not sure if they also x-ray your carry on luggage as well? Can I ask for just the sealed packets of film to bypass that machine when embarking if so? Any advice from someone with experience with taking instant print cameras with them on a cruise recently would be much appreciated! EDDY0827 Posted August 25, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2022 Check with a camera store. They should have film safe containers for x-ray.

Great idea, I didn't even know they made those! Just called my local camera store and they have lead bags in stock that help with this issue. Thank you 🙂
