union posted a notice on its website Thursday announcing contract negotiations with Seaspan’s marine transport division had reached an impasse and a strike was beginning at noon that day.

Seaspan is one of four tug-assist providers and one of two bunker suppliers at the port, so these services may be affected.

despite our best efforts, and with the assistance of federal mediators, we have been unsuccessful in reaching an agreement with the Canadian Marine Services Guild

last contract with the union expired in 2019

Not sure if the overall labour issue has been resolved yet so I suspect there would be value in keeping an eye open for potential issues with other upcoming sailings.  However, based on their comment in the article, it sounds like the Port Authority is going to be more proactive if issues do pop up(??).

There are three or four tug boat operators in Vancouver.  Only one of them is on strike.  So this may come down to the one the cruise line normally uses and it may have to try to use a different provider until this is resolved.  However the other tug boat operators are going to have a lot of extra work to deal with until the strike at Seaspan is resolved.
