Hi.

First live blog for Ambassador.

We embark tomorrow at 1220 and have just checked in to a local hotel.

Chronomics pre cruise covid testing did not go smoothly for us both. Mine went fine. My friend however got an 'invalid' result and will retest tomorrow at the pier.

Briefly our itinerary is : Tilbury - Faroes - Greenland - Canada - Iceland - Tilbury.

Welcome aboard the blog! Happy to answer ship/port questions and post pics.

Day 1/34

Port of Tilbury (London)

The Port of Tilbury is home to the London International Cruise Terminal. This is London’s only deep-water, purpose-built cruise facility, and is located just 22 nautical miles down-river from Central London.

The Port of Tilbury is a natural gateway for passengers to enjoy all the tourist spots that London has to offer with opportunity for cruise ships to berth at the International Cruise Terminal at Tilbury or sailing visitors right into central London and berth on one of the London Moorings, (managed in joint partnership with MBNA Thames Clippers). This exciting opportunity allows the mooring of cruise ships in the heart of London at Greenwich Ship Tier, Tower Bridge Upper Tier and George’s Stair Tier on behalf of the PLA.

Which hotel did you stay in ? Any good ?

Hi 👋

Premier Inn East Thurrock. Basic. Bed not so great. Good enough for one night and £49!!

We had dinner at Lakeside Shopping Centre. Casco Lounge. Highly recommend. Good vegan options too.

We have a superior balcony on deck 10 which I describe as 'cosy'. There are no hooks ANYWHERE! We have magnets for notices but not for clothes or coats etc!

We have requested the beds be put together.

Tonight's dinner menu courtesy of the app. So useful!

Went to pre muster sailaway party. It's going on post muster instead. Compulsory first cruise drink of Pimm's.

Found the library! And the Palladium Theatre.

Did you mention the cigarette butt and the non checking of chronomics result ?

Nice to see a library - with books in it ! Just back from saga and still not open.

They are doing port testing still - but didn’t ask to see any insurance documents.

great to follow your adventures again - thanks .

Our room steward cleared the butt. I believe Chronomics communicate the results to Ambassador as we had to consent for the result to be forwarded. Regardless it was haphazard. Insurance docs not asked for.

Good morning! Thanks for following 😀

Motion of the ocean is really welcomed back!!

Balcony pics from around 0730. The moon, an oil rig. App screen shots. Just love the tracker! Marine traffic tracker screenshot from now on!

Can't find weather info in app or on daily activity sheet.

the allaboard web page looks good - are the screenshots from the allaboard tracker ?

Good. Two of us £5 per day for the whole cruise. Screenshots from tracker with the exception of Marine Traffic.

Deck 6

There's a ship tour about to start. I'm not good at guided tours lol so calmly doing my own thing.

All the lifts are beautifully decorated. When I get in an empty one will grab a pic. The ship exudes a relaxed, calm atmosphere.

There's a charge for arts and crafts. Not sure how much. After my self mutilation with a felting needle last cruise will not be participating!

We had some shenanigans over our drinks package last night which I put down to me being tired. I try to be a go with the flow person but when the computer says 'no' I teeter towards an edge!

We did get seated at first sitting for dinner. Table of 6. Two other couples. Lovely folk.
