Hello from the Serenity Deck on Sea Dau number 2 where the chair hogs are out in full force smh

oh well I have a lounger and will enjoy some morning sun.

While I wait for DH to wake up I thought I would post some initial thoughts and answer a question or two.

We are loving the ship.  Enjoyed the steakhouse first night and elegant last night.  Food has been great.  We have not even stopped at the lido deck yet lol so no idea about the buffet.  And I won’t set food in there if I can all cruise.

Line up for the comedy club was huge so haven’t gone there yet. Enjoyed the sports bar last night for the packers game.

The casino has been packed as well. Drink service has been super slow in there which might not be a bad thing lol.

I will do my best to pop back and answer questions

Looks like you’re doing ABCs and I’m jealous as I sit here in a Zoom call. Fantasizing about our cruise on Horizon in December is getting me through these difficult times.

Did the steakhouse still honor free wine on the first night? Have you noticed the ship being hot? Thanks and have a blast!

Edit: Just paid for my internet package this morning so seeing you on here is a good sign!

Thank you for this!!  We cruise her in less than 2 weeks.....Do you have Havana access?  We upgraded to the Grand Suite and it comes w/ access to the Havana area.  Curious about what it entails.  Also - have you tried the salad option in the Serenity area?

No Havana - we are in a Cove Balcony for the first time.  Usually have a regular balcony

I saw the salad bar but wasn’t hungry so didn’t have anything but it looked great

Yes Steakhouse did offer the free wine or 1/2 priced bottle

I am on the value plan to keep in touch with home and it’s working great!!

Yes - ABCs a bucket list for sure!

Thanks for taking your vacation time for this!

1. What was open and where did you eat for embarkation lunch?

2. How is the cove balcony? That's what we're looking at for next summer. Can you feel the movement of the ship at night? (We've booked cabins high up previously and would missed being rocked to sleep).

3.  How did you get to the port? How'd it go?

4. Question inspired by the other thread on here... any issues with pot smoking?

We arrived at 12:30 early for our booked arrival of 1:30-2:00 as we couldn’t get a later check out in our hotel.   We arrived got in the early arrival line and just kept walking until we were on board less than an hour all in.

We took an Uber from Miami Beach. It was $35 I think. And worked well.

We were able to go to our rooms - which we did after the muster

We ate at Pig and Anchor.  It was good and not busy.  I’m doing what I can to avoid too many people but the casino is what it is.

I think I prefer a regular balcony but it’s good.  Not much movement at all

which is good for DH as he can get motion sick.  Seeing the water zip by is at times not great for him from because of that.  Like the landscape in a car.

I don’t wKt to jinx it but not at all. We are near yen family harbour area so that might help.  But have not noticed anywhere else

do you have Donkey as CD?  he's the most memorable CD we have had, just tons of fun.  i really enjoyed his personality on the mic.

we had a very easy time getting drinks on horizon at casino getting drinks.   maybe it was the proverbial one off situation.   we only tipped $1 for a round of two drinks, sometimes $2.   most everyone else around us wasnt flashing any cash, however.

Have you been to the piano bar, if so, who is playing and your thoughts appreciated

We have not made it there yet.  It’s typically one of our fav hangouts. It sounded good when we walked by. If I we make it I will update!

We upgraded to Suite also.  The Havana area was SO nice.   It's smaller than I expected though so if you are just getting there midday the seats are hard to find.  Late afternoon though was no problem.  Great Bar Service!  And the pools and hot tubs were hardly used ... people rotated in and out and were not tub hogging.  Overall I would love to have that area again, but paying rack rate for GS is not worth it, but as a small upgrade, it can't be beat!  The inside bar is LOUD at night though.  We prefer 80s or 90s tunes so we didn't stick around inside but it was a popular area.   Enjoy your  suite!

If you have a moment, could you stop by Camp Ocean and grab an activities schedule?  We cruise in about 30 days on this itinerary and I just want to get an idea of the kids club activities for the Penguins and Stingrays group.  Thanks so much - and no worries if it doesn't work out.  🙂

Thanks for the info.  We were gifted the cruise so when we were offered the opportunity to upgrade we jumped on it!  DH will most likely enjoy the Havana area during the day, I prefer the activity of the Lido. But in the evenings we hope to take advantage of the back bars for sure!  Hopefully we won't be too spoiled with the GS after this cruise!

Time for some updates and info while DH dives in Bonaire and I have some down time 😄

The ship is full we have witnessed super long lines for comedy so not going to that.

But it’s been no wait to get tables at MDR.

Casino continues to be busy but no problem finding a spot at a table or machine.

I likely won’t be anywhere near a kids club as this is our first cruise on our own for the person that asked.

Loving a quiet morning on board while most have gone ashore.  Heading out myself after lunch to explore

So on for a bit for any other questions
