Chair Umbrella

This might be a crazy question but can we bring our own umbrella/shade for the deck chairs?  The retreat is sold out for Cabanas and my husband and son like to have shade.  I was thinking something like this:

You can certainly bring whatever you want, as long as it doesn't damage the lounger.  But, when the ship is moving, this may very well go flying off.  BTW...  there's plenty of shade to be found.

I'm curious, what sailing has all retreat cabanas sold out? Hope it's not mine!

Have you considered a very large-brim sun hat? I have one that even shades my shoulders. There's always the possibility that whatever you bring to attach to the chair, like in the photo, won't be allowed. It may obstruct the views of others and may also fly off and injure another passenger. The worse that can happen, if you decide to try it, is that security may take if away from you.

I take a light weight umbrella good for sun and or rain.
