Which hotels are the closet to the new Royal Caribbean cruise terminal? We will be sailing on Allure of the Seas next summer.  We would like to stay close if possible.  We plan on staying one night in Houston and then the next day arrive in Galveston the evening before our cruise.

Thanks!

The nearest hotels are The Tremont (24th & Mechanic) and Harbor House (21st & Harborside) in downtown Galveston. Entrance to the port for RCL is 14th & Harborside.  Not walkable as no sidewalks and a very busy street.

There are numerous hotels on Seawall as the port is not that far.  The island is 32 miles long and 2 miles at its widest.

Be aware that most hotels and vacation rentals require a 2 night minimum stay as summer is high season.  You may try a B&B for one night.

Oh that's good to know.  We were thinking of one night in Houston and one in Galveston.  We may need to just stick with Galveston for 2 nights.  I want to go to NASA to tour.

Is Norwegian's pier walkable from The Tremont?   Cruising on NCL's new ship Prima.

I'm not sure if it's Terminal 1 or 2.    It looked like we could enjoy walking around that entire area and we are then hoping to be able to walk to the port.  (Easy rolling luggage.)

Either terminal is walkable to downtown; one a little further than the other.  Google a map of Galveston.

Sorry, I have googled several Galveston & Galveston port maps and I've gotten very confused.  .It looks walkable but then your post #2 above said Royal's terminal is 'not walkable as no sidewalks and a very busy street'.

Isn't this terminal right next to the one most likely used by Norwegian?  (Their site doesn't say if terminal 1 or 2.  Googling shows 2502 Harborside and 2702 Harborside).

Everything I check says 2702 Harborside for Royal's terminal.  This is also the address listed on Royal's website.  https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/driving-directions-port-galveston-texas

Sorry for all the questions, just very confused about the walkability to the port.

Royal opens their new terminal on November 9, 2022 at Harborside and 14th St.

The Allure will dock at the new terminal as unable to maneuver further up the channel to the old docks.

As per cruise ship schedule on Port of Galveston website, NCL prima will be on Terminal 2.

One word of caution about walking to Term 2 from the Tremont House.

On cruise days the traffic you would need to cross and dodge to get to Term 2 is really heavy and filled with drivers who are not familiar with Galveston or the terminal area along Harborside Drive.

if you do decide to walk and pull your bags, be careful and watchful.

On the  plus side, the Tremont House is a grand, historic hotel with beautiful, high ceilinged rooms. Lots of good restaurants nearby.
