Gracelyn Posted October 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2022 Not sure what will happen if I’ve booked a cruise, need to cancel due to illness and it’s that dreaded expiration date of Dec/22 do I get a FCC back ? I have cancellation insurance but wondering if I then lose the amount of the FCC. ( $6400). just waiting for my moms dr. To make a decision. gracelyn
MeHeartCruising Posted October 17, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2022 (edited) Based on my experience, I would expect the FCC to be credited back to your account 2-3 days after you cancel the cruise (if it wasn't used to pay off any cancellation penalty). BUT, it will still have the same expiration date. To my knowledge, they aren't likely to extend the expiration date. Perhaps you can gift a cruise to someone you know who could go. Gracelyn Posted October 17, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted October 17, 2022 Ok that’s what we were wondering. No way if her dr says she can’t travel will she be able to go by December. she had asked about transfer but was told cannot since it’s only 35 days till the cruise. She was hoping they’d extend the FCC if it’s a medical reason
Rare cruiseny4life Posted October 17, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 17, 2022 We canceled a cruise in August to jump on a better fare for a September cruise. It's mid-October and we're still waiting for the FCC to be applied, less the cancellation fee.
mscloyd Posted October 17, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2022 NCL extended some cruise certificates. When were they purchased? I'm thinking if yours expire this year that they might have fallen in that extension perdiod. I have the information at home and will try to post it later tonight. Gracelyn Posted October 17, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted October 17, 2022 We purchased them for a Tahiti Hawaii cruised for March 20 but we had to cancel 4 days pre boarding. So with all the cancellations they expired Dec 31/22.
mscloyd Posted October 18, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 18, 2022 After re-reading your post I realized you were talking about FCC rather than certificates. Sorry, but I don't know much about FCC. That would be a lot to lose!
Gracelyn Posted October 18, 2022 Author #8 Share Posted October 18, 2022 Yes it will be. I have cancellation insurance but not sure if we’d get anything covered because it expires b tough call. But we are praying. thanks
julig22 Posted October 18, 2022 #9 Share Posted October 18, 2022 You might consider selling it if you can't go. You'll take a loss but better than losing it all.
