Zhaan Posted November 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2022 We're cruising out of Charleston on the Sunshine and we are driving to the port. We prefer to self-walk off with our luggage for disembarkation. Since Charleston requires a shuttle from the ship to get back to our car, can you self-disembark with your luggage and are they able to put your luggage on the shuttle to transfer you to your car? Thanks!
Oletruckdude Posted November 10, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2022 Yes, they have shuttles waiting with large trailers connected to them for the luggage. If you can handle the walk you can just skip the shuttle and walk directly to your car, which is what we usually do. It's quicker then waiting to load luggage then boarding the shuttle, then waiting for them to unload the luggage at your stop. 2
pcvtmom Posted November 11, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2022 We've cruised from Charleston many times and always do self-disembarkation. We just walk to our parked car. With rolling suitcases, it's fairly easy. 1

I always do self assist and will be sailing from Charleston next year and parking at the port,

Probably an 8 minute walk depending on where in the lot you parked.

There are several large buildings they park guests inside which are approx quarter mile walk from the ship. Then there is an outside parking lot very close to the ship. Handicap parking is right up front near the ship.
pcvtmom Posted November 11, 2022 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2022 We've parked close enough to see our vehicle, at times. Other times, less than a 10 minute walk. As mentioned above, it depends on what time you arrive on embarkation day...and where you get to park!
Rare ninjacat123 Posted November 11, 2022 #9 Share Posted November 11, 2022 Be careful with your luggage wheels! Many lumps and railroad tracks to cross. It's doable but I'm usually hot and sweaty by the time I get me and my luggage to the car. Have a great cruise!
mz-s Posted November 11, 2022 #10 Share Posted November 11, 2022 I don’t find the shuttle ride to be that bad…each to their own.
