Latest HAL Promo

New promo is 30% off and free balcony upgrade.  But, it looks like you have to take the HIA option to get the upgrade.  Also, the old promo was 40% off so the price has increased.  And, it only applies to certain dates in 2023 and 2024.

Oddly the price for the cruise we are looking Dec 2023 did not change from the weekend pricing, and even better our casino discounted fare is now lower. We did just return from a HAL cruise  but only played the Casino briefly but managed a small win which we withdrew, maybe they really want it back 😎

As a new HAL cruiser, I spent a few hours at the craps table on the Noordam in September (Alaska). I haven't heard anything from them about credits, and I have a deposit on a Norway cruise in May, which I can always change before payment is due.

 

I've made a couple of calls about any credit earned, and whoever I get at HAL (including my cruise consultant) has to ask someone else, and I never get a clear answer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try a mock booking for your cruise through room selection up to payment. I don't know why, but or me I have to actually keep going through the booking to see any discounted rate that may be against the fare for a cruise. It doesn't say anything .. I just look at the price as I go through and notice the price change (dropped). When I have seen this on my last booking, it then showed a "Casino Discount" line in my pdf booking summary.

Be sure you are signed in to see any discounts you qualify for and like @rodndonnasaid you may have to go to the final page before you see the final discount.  As always you have to call for the advantage fare which is refundable deposit without HIA

We have a booking for April 2023.  It shows total price of HIA (2 guests) as $490.  I needed to get our casino offer added to our booking, so I asked her why the price was lower than the normal $700 for 2 guests.  She had no idea, but thought we might be getting a discount.  Is this possible?  We had HIA for our 14 days on NS & didn't really use SBP as much as I thought we would.  But it was nice not worrying about ordering a drink.

Thanks for your replies, rodndonna and Mary229. When I tried bookings I don't see any discount on a couple of cruises. Do I just have to keep looking, or am I not getting any? A bit irritating if that's the case.

I think so. I think the discounting gets complicated when they combine promos and casino discounts ... in the end, with HAL it seems you just have to do regular mock bookings (including booking up and own in room categories) to get an idea what your options are. 

 

Thankfully we are retired so ample time to review everything regularly.

 

We're also pretty borderline on HIA (at full price) but really like the convenience. Someday we will try a cruise without .. but not yet 🤔

Since you played roulette I am not sure how that works (in terms of getting credit for your play). If you were credited for your play, try some of the "low hanging fruit" bookings, shorter Mexican and Caribbean in shorter term. If someone else posts they got freebies (people do on here), better chance you would have a discount on that cruise.

 

Honestly though, it's a bit mysterious....

Some info for everyone: after much time on the phone with various HAL staff and finally being transferred to their casino services (yes, there is such a thing) I was told that all casino tracking, services, rewards, etc. come through a separate office at CCL: the Ocean Players Club.
