We were wondering the same thing. Just got off an 8 day Carnival Christmas cruise and the teenagers seemed to have fun run of the ship.

If you cruise during school holidays you will have a lot of families with children of all ages onboard. Be mindful of college spring break too.

Small kids can be annoying at times.  Teenagers can be annoying at times.  College kids can be annoying at times.  😬

We all can be annoying at times.  I vote to just relax and enjoy whatever cruise we're on! 😎

Since Easter is the 9th, many lower schools will be out the week before. We'll be on the Dawn with our 12 year old. The cruise on the 2nd would have many more kids than the one on the 9th. I'm guessing there are no spring break kids on that one unless they are online or homeschooling kids. College breaks are probably over by either cruise. The Dawn is not the water slides and race car type of cruise so there may be less kids than those ships.

Had you been on the Dawn before the refurbishment too? It will be interesting to see if it feels different. We've been on it twice as well as several sister ships that are exactly the same. I was sad to read that the Great Outdoors is now a kid's pool. I agree that was probably a needed amenity but that was my breakfast and sailaway space.

Our 11 day Greek Isles cruise on the Dawn in October 2022 was excellent. Being a smaller ship we had access to the Greek ports.  The crew was eager to please and very friendly. The food was everything we wanted and we would book this ship again. Our balcony cabin was well maintained. We definitely prefer this size ship...fewer people and very comfortable.

@recruiter 28 You wouldn't happen to have reviewed that itinerary would you? Not finding a lot here...
We just booked a 10-day on Dawn this November (Trieste to Istanbul) around the Greek Isles, and were looking for folks with recent experiences.

Hate me if you will Norwegians , but the worse cruise I had ever been on !

Booked a penthouse with Butler thinking it would be great, NOT !  old dying flowers that completely died and not removed, same fruit left in the basket with a sparse of grapes added , I seemed to have lost my Christmas door decoration, "never made it to the door " same food day in and out .

Cagneys , looked forward to it, but the meat was so tough the head waitress came over to see that I wasnt able to stab it and had to remove the two bites that was unchewable , She offered a different one but I was turned off by it all.

The Concierge , told me twice about reservations I did not make, when I told her I didnt , she seemed to insist that I did ,infact had me booked at two differnt special restaurants at the same time .

The pre dinner treats consisted of dried up canapes or 4 chocolates delivered at noon , I am sure made the day before .

I was impressed with priority check in , but luggage was not delivered until after 8 .

Casino was so filled with smoke I had to bail from card playing the last two nights although I played with a great fun gang .

Tradewins ! what a waste of space , no store ,  no where to purchase clothing other that tourist t shirts or Norweigian logo wear ,

Laundry , came back grey , I mentioned it, they came and saw, offered to rewash , but how do you bring a vibrant yellow top that had turned dull and grey back to life , I declined the offer , was not credited. The Concierge came to my dining table with something to sign about the laundry , I was having my dinner ! I asked her to excuse me .

Enterainment staff , one in particular would  almost run people down while passing, all that was needed was "excuse me "

Docked quite away from ports, not as I remembered with other cruises.

Someone mentioned before, that people expect more while paying Motel 6 prices, I assure you , I paid way more than Motel 6 prices .

Now, to make up with the ones I have offended , check in was great .

The staff was awesome .

Drinks plentiful .

Le Bistro , very nice.

Seating in the Dining room , I enjoyed, chatted with people seated close by , met people from near and far.

Dining room staff friendly, "please come back tomorrow "

Fellow cruisers friendly and fun .

Ask at the pool bar for a Michelle special , no calories !

Finding luggage at disemarkment , a dream !

I am happy for all that enjoyed their cruise .

For one, why would you choose a ship that is over 20 years old? Itinerary? Also complaining about where a ship docks? Really? I would love to know the ships and lines you have sailed in the past? I understand as far as food quality, but if you turned down the offer to replace that is on you. I cruise all lines not just NCL, and I will agree with previous post, that was entertaining

Originally unveiled in 2002, the Norwegian Dawn underwent a massive makeover in June 2016 that brought changes to nearly every corner of the ship, including its lively Atrium.

Many ships are 20 plus years old. I chose it because I wanted to sail from Tampa .

I too have sailed other cruise lines , Crystal Symphony was 27 years old , yes, where they docked that involved a 25 minute tender . The closer the more expensive, Docking on a Sunday less expensive , I am glad you enjoyed my review .

May I ask what other cruise lines have you used ?

I really hope you aren’t comparing a luxury liner such as crystal to NCL? I have cruise RCCL, NCL, Carnival, Princess, Dolphin cruise line, Premier Cruise Line and Orient Cruise Line. I think that’s all of them…

actually I kinda was,  I thought if I purchased a penthouse ,all upgraded packages , that would be a touch of luxury . I didnt care if flowers were in the cabin, just not dead ones , I didnt care if the fruit basket was never changed, just take it away . this board is called cruiseCritic, I just shared my experience . I have sailed Crystal , 15 times, Nowegian Jewel 2 times

"I dined at Gagneys 3 times " vey nice , Regent  2 times very nice , Carnival 2 times ,  none in a penthouse . I just expected more for my $$$$$ ,  Try and concentrate on the fact that I was very happy that the cruisers on this sail had a great time , that the staff were awesome .

There is no observation lounge or Spinnaker with a view to the front of the ship. There used to be one on the Dawn and sister ship, Star, but they removed them and turned the space into balcony-less suites. There is no good aft outdoor eating area such as the Great Outdoors you find on other ships. Yes, you can eat by the pool, but there is lots of noise and no nice view. For me, those two short-comings make my cruises on the Dawn less enjoyable than other ships, but I still cruise and have a nice time.

the Spinnaker used to be a nice observation lounge 😕
