Auckland Port & Car rental

Cruise will be ending in Auckland.  Are there car rental offices right there at/near the port or  will we need to take a taxi(?) to one?   Early morning arrival on the ship and interested in renting a car for the day until our plane departs late that evening.  Car pickup at port and then drop off at airport would be ideal!

don't see one next to port - use google maps and search car rentals most look to be several blocks away.  May want to just book a tour for the day especially if you are not very familiar with left side driving in the city.

We are renting our car on Victoria Street (Avis).  It's 1.8 km walking per Google.

Avis Downtown is about 2km away up hill (I would taxi it as it is a hard walk... or grab a scooter).  There is also go rentals and Ezi Rentals on Parnell Rise.  None have shuttles but they are all very simple to get too. I have often done Avis pick up at the Airport and drop off at the Downtown.  Go Rentals also have an airport drop off but it is off campus and you need to factor in the shuttle to the airport time.
