rodndonna Posted December 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2022 We purchased a $100 FCD (Future Cruise Deposit) on board our cruise in December (just filled in the form and put it in the box) and now have a very simple question - When we use it, is it to be $100 credit towards a deposit on a cruise or would that become the deposit (essentially becoming a reduced deposit of $100 total).? I had presumed it is just a credit of $100 towards the normal cruise deposit . When I read some threads people mentioned it having the benefit of a "reduced deposit" , which I just thought meant people feel they are reducing their deposit by that $100 by prepaying some months (or years) before. I've read the terms and conditions but it's still not clear to me which it is.
billbunger Posted December 26, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2022 Your deposit is $100.00 no more no less. It stays as your deposit.
boatmad Posted December 26, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2022 It becomes your full deposit for 7-10 day cruise. Partial deposit for longer cruise, I believe. 1
rodndonna Posted December 26, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted December 26, 2022 Thanks! I really never clued in until I was reading a thread on another cruise line with a similar program and it then became clear. It is a nice benefit then!

CNSJ Posted December 27, 2022 #6 Share Posted December 27, 2022 You can also combine several FCDs to vastly reduce any deposit required. Its always good to have a few FCDs in your back pocket. Better to book onboard of course!
Rare Crew News Posted December 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2022 My 14-Day Alaska next year was one $100 Future Cruise Deposit FCD). FWIW booking within 60 days of disembarking, and using an FCD, earns the same OBC bonus as if booked on board.
pghflyer Posted January 19, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2023 (edited) Sorry newbie with a few questions. Is it one FCD per person when applying as a deposit? AKA Spouse and I would each have to have one to make a cabin reservation? If it only requires one certificate per cabin, is there a limit to how many you can apply (and the associated OBC)? So if I bought one $250 FCD, we would get $75 $OBC on our future cruise if we booked an 11-21 night veranda room? Can we apply a 11-21 night deposit to a 7-10 night sailing? I assume it would then earn the lower 7-10 night OBC? Edited January 19, 2023 by pghflyer
Nodakboiler Posted January 20, 2023 #9 Share Posted January 20, 2023 We have been told to just buy a $100 FCD each and then if we book a longer cruise they will just charge the additional cost (max $200 each if not world cruise) at the time of booking. Each person needs a FCD. 1
Rare Crew News Posted January 20, 2023 #10 Share Posted January 20, 2023 The FCD is purchased in someone's name but can be used for other passengers. Only the person whose name is on the FCD will receive the OBC for the FCD purchase.

Thanks that’s what I thought but it’s been a while since I’ve booked more than 7 days/or b2b.
