Worthwhile taking Amtrak in May?

We are travelling from Vancouver to Seattle to go on our Alaskan cruise in early May. Planning to go on the Amtrak cascade train although there is only 1 scheduled daily leaving Vancouver at 6pm and arriving Seattle approx. 10pm. Will we be missing the scenery on the train trip or will it still be light enough for us to see something? Otherwise I will opt to take the Amtrak bus instead.

In early May the time of sunset will be about 8:30 pm, so there will be daylight until almost 9:00. You will see the best of it.
