fndecker Posted January 22, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2023 I've searched everywhere and can't find the policy for a family of 3. So two adults and a 20 year old daughter. Do you have to book 2 rooms? Book a Suite? Sail on a line that allows 3 to a room? 😉
jon81uk Posted January 22, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2023 There are rooms that sleep three either on an additional single or a pull down bed. But she might prefer a room to herself anyway.
Rare cantgetin Posted January 23, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2023 Your choice--there are cabins that sleep 3. You could book a cabin for 2 plus a solo cabin. There might be another "no single supplement" sale, so you could get her a 2 person room next to yours while only paying the single price (this happened for several months in 2022. There are suites that sleep 3. Completely up to you!
babycatsy Posted January 23, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2023 We ended up booking two rooms, one room for my sister and I and one for my mom.
jon81uk Posted January 23, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2023 Oh and re-reading your message you are asking about policy. Your daughter is over 18 and therefore an adult and can board on her own and can drink alcohol in international waters. She could take the cruise without you even. https://help.virginvoyages.com/helpportal/s/searchresult?userInput=What is the drinking age on board#reload https://www.virginvoyages.com/addl-terms-and-conditions (scroll to age policy, it’s the first one).
spookyfudge Posted February 3, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2023 Your daughter may want her own room, there are many singles on the ship and she might want to have her own room.

All of the Cheeky Corner Suites have an adjoining Sea Terrace if you wanted to go that route. And of course the Solo Insider and Sea View are an option for your daughter. Reach out to a travel advisor so they can book you into specific cabins so you'll be close together if that what you'd like to do.
Chrish2 Posted February 4, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 4, 2023 (edited) My understanding is can have three sharing in most room types however you might notice you don't get much of a discount for a 3rd passenger in the same cabin. This is different to what other cruise lines often do where once you hit the 2 people occupancy having a 3rd or 4th in the same cabin is highly discounted. As an example the following is all in prices for a sea terrace at this time on The Irresistible Med (7nights) 21st May 2023 Lock It In Rate Ltd View Sea Terrace (for 1 sailor in 1 cabin) = $2,735 (for 2 sailors in 1 cabin) = $2,844 ($1,422pp) (for 3 sailors in 1 cabin) = n/a sold out The Sea Terrace (for 1 sailor in 1 cabin) = $3,610 (for 2 sailors in 1 cabin) = $3,718 ($1,859pp) (for 3 sailors in 1 cabin) =$4,974 ($1,658pp) The extra for going from 1 to2 people is tax ($108) however the extra to go from 2 to 3 is $1,256. In effect the 3rd person gets 1/3 discount. Keep an eye out for the no solo supplement offer they ran last year as it might work out better value. We got 3x normal sea terrace with 1 person in each cheaper than 3 people in one cabin! "Top Tip", if you do end up booking 2x sea terrace cabins then book one on Port and the other on Starboard. That way if you want to join on the balcony you will have a choice of sunny or shaded (and some times shaded is much nicer as it can be too hot, especially if you are still in port with little wind and no movement to cool things down). Rare cantgetin Posted February 4, 2023 #9 Share Posted February 4, 2023 You nailed the main tip--know the end date of each promotion and check on the day after that to see whether the new promotion includes the "no single supplement." We have noticed that prices on our cruises have been increasing steadily...not a lot, but some. If you choose to book early, you can do a 3 person room. Then, if the "no single supplement" deal appears, you can alter the reservation to remove that third person from the room and book them as a solo in any cabin you choose (solo or 2 person going solo) Again, a good TA can track this for you!
