Yes I saw the announcement that they have a temporary fix to allow ships to use both RR docking locations. But they are not going to allow pax to walk the dock and I doubt if they will let trains on it either. Apparently they plan  on using buses to ferry pax along the dock with spotters around the slide area.

This comes down to two considerations:  1) Do you prefer smaller ships with fewer frills or a 4000 pax ship with the latest amenities;  2) Assuming the itineraries differ, which do you prefer?

 

As you've seen, #1 is entirely subjective.  I've not been on the Sun but have done the Sky.  The Bliss is my favorite ship thus far (haven't sailed Prima.)  Also, I tend to go for 7 day itineraries because work doesn't get too out of control in my absence.  Some of the Sun itineraries look interesting though.

I'm gutted that they are swapping the Sun for the Joy in 2025.  I've had to change my 2024 trip for family reasons and was so looking forward to sailing on the Sun as I think she is the perfect ship for Alaska

Took the Sun southbound in 2014.  A great cruise and that ship is the right size for Alaska.  Hopefully your itinerary includes Glacier Bay.  I've also done Alaska on Pricess and HAL.

Excellent choice if for no other reason, the itinerary.  I loved the Bliss but the Sun would have been my choice hands down.
