Southampton Princess cruise dock to Southampton Airport

What is best way to get from Southampton Princess Dock post cruise to Southampton Airport where we pickup our rental car?      Taxis take credit card?  Do they charge extra if using credit card versus cash?            Many taxis available?   Thank you

I've used both the white 'radio' taxi and Uber this past November in Southampton. Credit cards were accepted on both for the fare.

Even without luggage, a taxi to the station then train to the airport isn't worth the saving over a taxi all the way.

Ditto the bus service, which travels a very convoluted route.
 

In the UK  it's illegal to surcharge for using a card though I'm not sure if all taxis accept plastic, so check with the driver..

 

Usually no long wait for a taxi at the pier - if there's a line it moves quickly because almost all journeys are local - bus or rail station or city centre hotel  - so taxis circulate. At about  8 miles / 20 minutes, the airport is one of the longer fares for them.

I'm guessing you'll be heading to the nearby motorway - keep your eyes open when you cross it so that you know the way back.
