AZAMARA PURSUIT Apr 1-8 Rome to Athens

We won't receive our cruise docs with embarkation details for several weeks and know only that ship departure from Civitavecchia is at 5PM.  We want to secure transportation from our hotel in Central Rome to the ship ASAP.  Hoping some others who embarked with Azamara at Civi can advise:

  1. For ship departure at 5PM, what time should we plan to be at the embarkation/check-in point?
  2. We'd appreciate recco's for shuttle or taxi from the Rome hotel to the port. Prices are all over the map ($50-$150 per person!) for cold searches.
  3. We're considering a taxi to the train in Rome but the train dates/times aren't yet published for April and we're reluctant to bet our cruise on unknown Saturday schedules.  Though we much prefer to stay in Rome, we're wondering if we should head for Civi the day before because if a new ship carrying 5000+ is in port on our departure day, we're concerned that trains & taxis to and in Civi may disappear.
  4. Is there a website showing what ships will be in what port on a given date?

cruisemapper is showing Pursuit as the only ship in Civitavecchia on 1st April

Unless it changes beforehand, earliest boarding time is 2pm - you will select your slot when you check-in approx a month before (often 45 days but some appear to be later)

We are also on this cruise and have embarked in Civitavecchia many times.

RomeCabs is who we use each and everytime.

I believe it was 130 euros paid to driver per vehicle., not per person.

They are very reliable and have a website with online booking and quick written confirmation.

Boarding has been starting at 2 pm recently so I would aim for noon checkout from hotel and approx 90 minutes travel (often quicker).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info; Azamara should put it in the online info so folks can plan transit to the ship.

The last time I was in Civi, the embarkation center" was a big hot tent.  Is there a real cruise facility there now, where passengers can wait to check-in in a semblance of comfort?

Yes, there is a real terminal there.  I embarked in November and used Civitavecchia Shuttle Express to get from the airport to Rome and then Rome to the ship. They were fabulous.  The driver was always early and very professional.
