Saw this offer on their website. Applied and got approved for this then asked how it would be applied to our booking and they said it would only be for new booking. It was not very clear in their ad and we did not read the fine print. Had we known, we would have applied before our booking. Anyone had similar experience? My booking is non refundable so cannot cancel and rebook.

I am totally confused about the Educator Appreciation offer and so is my PCC. Was approved in September.  4F4C9FFE-6246-43D7-9340-192873DC8C92.jpeg.78f3170b5f9681452d6c2caf56c3f8ee.jpegAsked why it wasn’t applied to my November cruise. She said it had been applied to my February cruise.  She was able to “move it” to my November cruise.  Told me it could only be used once a year.  Told me the process was changing and they were dealing with an outside company. (Sheer ID?) Told me to contact her in January to get it for my February cruise.  Called two weeks ago,  she put me on hold for about 30minutes while she got more information.  Told me I needed to apply every time.  Reapplied while we were on the phone,  received this and emailed it to her.B6ECC2B8-B5BA-4BAB-9CB6-2B3F1EC28611.jpeg.b7d150352b95b3da6d4b35b3bdcc70c5.jpeg

She said, she need to get more info from her supervisor.  Later that afternoon,  I received updated booking confirmations with the credit for my October 23, February 24 and October 24 cruises.  No credit for my February 23 cruise.  I emailed her and ask her for the credit for 2/23.  She said that cruise wasn’t eligible.  I emailed her to ask why and for the written policy but haven’t heard back. I’ll report back if I get any answers before my cruise in 6 days.

You deserve it, keep pursuing it.  Let us know how it works out.

FYI I read that you cannot use it for casino and Crew gratuities.
I still hope HAL will give me the OBC even though I booked the cruise prior to applying for the offer. Waiting to hear if they will reconsider this technicality. OBC should encourage more spending onboard. Will update this post on HAL's decision.

Did you experience a problem getting your school added to the list? I got to the point of copying the URL from the icon on the list provided, but it does not accept the URL for this school, or any others within the board. Suggestions?

I work at a university and was able to get verified just now. My cruise is already booked, did it about three weeks ago. Is my TA or HAL the best way to see if they will apply the educator promo retroactively?

emailing HAL will be easiest/most direct about getting it applied

for HCW offer, my wife did the sheerid thing and not sure (don't think) the OBC was applied as wife's mariner # wasn't included in the booking so we emailed  Reservations_Submit@hollandamerica.com and got it applied retroactively

that was email before to get OBC for the HCW before they went to sheerid

My TA asked and got the reply that it had to be new booking and not retro. I emailed HAL to see if they would honor the offer retroactively but no reply yet. I think we need to all pressure HAL to apply to any current booking if we have been approved for the credit and not just new bookings. Many of us only became aware of this offer after we booked.

My PCC was able to retroactively apply it to 3 of my bookings.  She said that only 500 sailings are eligible and my 2/23 Rotterdam sailing did not qualify for the offer.  If you look on the website you can see the eligible cruises.

This is the email I received from HAL after requesting the credit:

Unfortunately, the appreciation is for new bookings only and this reservation was created on January 6th, 2023. We have a seven-day window to add the appreciation onto existing bookings. In the future, we recommend requesting the onboard credit at the time of creating the booking or contacting us within the week of creating the new reservation. We apologize for the inconvenience. We cannot wait to welcome you onboard the MS Rotterdam in March!

Just booked today and applied and was approved for the OBC a few hours later. Approval was instantaneous. Email said to book cruise using a link as early as tomorrow. Called HAL and agent applied again for me, then said call back in a few days to get an updated invoice showing the OBC, as it takes a few days to apply.

We’ll see.

It’s been awhile since the last post but I’m wondering if others had difficulty getting the educator obc.  I tried to submit the form to the 3rd party but my school did not come up on the pop up list.  So I emailed them.  My answer was it was only for CURRENT educators and the school has to be on the list.  So, I emailed back the screenshot of HAL’s offer for current and retired educators.   My next answer was it was only for the schools listed which was mostly colleges and universities.   This seems like an offer that’s not really viable to most of us.  They said that they will research my small public school but it will take 30 days minimum for it to “maybe” make the list.  I was trying to get it for a cruise I was booking now so I’m giving up.  I hope some of you have had luck.
