Jbluebird Posted February 2, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2023 With Royal's current sale we can move from a category 5D to 4D balcony cabin for $10 to $15 per person, but most of the available cabins are towards the back of the ship. Our current cabin is mid-ship with a partially obstructed view (the lifeboats), but above the casino. Thoughts on moving cabins (not sure about being towards the back of the ship)? cruiseguy1016 Posted February 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2023 We usually book cabins aft, on the stern if we can. The further back you go, the less foot traffic you'll have so the cabins are generally quieter. We don't mind the longer walk, it helps burn off some the extra calories. If you can get away from the obstructed view, that's a plus too.
SilkySal Posted February 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2023 It could depend on how big the ship is if you have any mobility issues. If no issues, I would much prefer the cabin with a better ocean view for sure! We love the cabins all of the way in the AFT to get the wake view and when the ship leaves port. Some have reported engine noise but we only heard engine noise when the ship started up, not while cruising or at port. The balconies are a bit bigger all of the way in the back. Jbluebird Posted February 2, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted February 2, 2023 I called back about a half hour later and the second person I spoke to said the 4D cabins were about $500 more per person...😕 I'll try again later with another person to see what response I get (hopefully it's more like the first person with an only 10 to $15 dollar difference). It seems like each person has different cost.
