ginny0034 Posted March 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Hi, Looking for any information on renting your own boat. If anyone has done have they enjoyed it? Were they able to anchor close enough to a beach and swim? Looking into Windjammer sports their 17 ft. motorboat at the Royal Naval Yard since that's where we are docking. Or if anyone else used a different company. Thanks for any info you can give! Ginny
Pleiades Posted March 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2006 I’ve rented from Windjammer before; its fun to go and poke along the shoreline, exploring areas you would never see form the road. In most cases you can just drive the boat slowly up to the beach until the bow (front) of the boat touches the sand, and hop out onto the beach. The propeller doesn’t stick that far into the water, so you can get into some pretty shallow places. You’ll find a lot of small secluded beaches that may be on private property, but as long as you don’t go above where the water comes to at high tide (past the seaweed on the beach) it isn’t trespassing.
