Major overcharge on final payment due to "bot"?

We have a total of 2 cabins for May cruise and recently made our final payment. Due to repeat error messages on Celebrity and TA websites, we had agent make the payment on our behalf. We noticed pretty quickly that there was an overcharge of approximately $3,400 on one of the two rooms. The same exact thing happened to our travel companions (1 of their two rooms had the same overcharge). The issue is supposedly fixed, but they are taking 7-10 days to refund us the overcharge which we are not happy about. Had we been able to make the payment ourselves, we would have caught the disparity before our card was charged. Has this happened to anyone else? I would not be surprised if the "bot" errors were only in favor of X. We are considering disputing the overcharge with Amex but are not sure if it is worth the effort.

I wouldn't dispute the charge if they're working on a refund already.  Disputes are for when a company won't work with you.  It does take several days for the refund process to happen.

No one else has been reporting this as an issue recently.  Probably just a mistake.  I'm not sure what X would get out of overcharging customers who already know what the final price is supposed to be.  Are you and your friends using the same agent?

Yes, same agent. Discounts did not process for 1 of 2 cabins for each family for final payment. Overcharge was through Celebrity, not agent from what we were told. Considering it happened 2x in one day (yesterday) with different transactions, it could be a bigger issue. I am giving people a heads up to check over charges carefully in case it is a bigger issue. The size of the overcharge is the most concerning.

I had something similar happen last week.  I changed my dining time online and afterwards my final payment amount more than doubled. When I called, they said the system dropped all of my discounts. They knew exactly what the problem was, so it seemed like it has probably been happening to others. They had it fixed the next day and sent me a new invoice.
