Knicks1130 Posted February 19, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2023 I am looking at setting up a $5k line of credit with NCL CAS.... How does the approval process work? Do I need to have a checking account with at least $5k balance? Will I get it approved if my average balance is less? I have plenty of cash but don't keep it in my daily checking account. I know they run your credit too, I don't have any other debt (other than my mortgage)
ElizaSTN Posted February 19, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2023 When we did it last year, we did need to show proof of funds. We don’t keep a lot of cash in our daily checking account either, we keep some in an account in our local bank. I think because it’s a smaller institution, they weren’t familiar with the process (or maybe just aren’t set up to do it electronically) so we actually had to do a conference call with CAS and the manager of the bank to verify the funds. It was a hassle but eventually got approved. However, getting the money at the casino was also a little bit of a hassle...the cage didn’t seem to know exactly how to do it. It ended up taking about an hour and then they couldn’t verify our check so that took a day or two to sort out (although they did front the funds in the meantime so at least we could play.) Overall, I’m not sure if we’ll do it again or just bring cash. It was nice not to have to carry cash, but it was stressful in other ways.
Sand and Seas Posted February 19, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) If you charge funds to your room, there is a 3% convenience charge. However, we have a credit card that gives 3% back on travel expenses. (It rolls up on your onboard bill with all of your other charges and shows up as a 'purchase'. Does not count as a 'cash advance'.) This way, we don't have to carry much cash when we travel. Also, if you play enough in the casino to reach certain tiers they refund your 3% convenience fees at the end of the cruise. (Sapphire, Ruby & Elite tiers.) Win-win for us😎 Here is a link to the information about Cash/Credit access and Players Club benefits: https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/casino-cruise/players-club Edited February 19, 2023 by Sand and Seas
