Katems75 Posted February 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2023 My mom sails May 13 on Harmony. She's solo but of course booked into a cabin for two on deck seven (ocean view balcony). She really wants deck eight but also wants to not be across from anyone, not near elevators, on the port side, and have the bed next to the bathroom. She has all that on deck seven, but most of the rest of us are on eight so we'd like her to join us up a deck if possible. Right now there are only two cabins on deck eight for 'two' people and one is starboard and the other is across from other cabins. There are, however, lots of port side cabins on eight for FOUR people (and we all know those cabins have the bed by the bathroom) and many are not across from other cabins. At what point would it be possible for her to try and switch into one of those rooms? Is calling the best way to do it?

Maybe never and perhaps at a higher price if it does open.

Many times, especially now as ships are sailing full they never get released
SNemeth Posted February 28, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2023 A cabin that sleeps 4 is usually a different category than a cabin that sleeps 2 and is a higher price. If she does move and it is to a different room category she will have to pay the current price on the new room. Just something to think about.
Rare nimbex1970 Posted February 28, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2023 As folks have said, this comes with an upcharge. These rooms for four do fill fast.
Starry Eyes Posted February 28, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2023 Looking at that sailing, it appears they have not even released the cabins for to be booked by parties of three. Parties of three are being offered Gty balcony cabins; I would think those quad cabins might be released to parties of three or assigned to triple gty bookings. time4u2go Posted February 28, 2023 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2023 Is she OK with paying 4 fares?
MeHeartCruising Posted February 28, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2023 I would think the introduction of bidding for an upgrade might mean they would keep these in case they can sell them via the upgrade process.

I don't think I've ever heard that one before.
LilBlackDress Posted February 28, 2023 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2023 It might be easier for you to move to 7 unless you have all the same requirements
