bayonejoe Posted March 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2023 We will be boarding Silver moon in 2 weeks for our first SS cruise. Documents received today state embarkation time is between 2and4 pm. How strict are they on enforcing the 2 pm time? thanks
pavementends Posted March 1, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2023 Different cruise, different ship. They opened almost exactly at the scheduled time.

Randyk47 Posted March 1, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2023 We cruised on the Dawn out of Ft Lauderdale a few weeks ago. Notionally our boarding time was scheduled to be 2 PM but they started the very quick check-in process about 12:30 PM. Embarkation process was first a fairly standard health questionnaire, then a quick no-touch temperature check, and a glance at our vaccination records. Next station was the regular credit card for on-board charges, a picture taken, and handed our cabin key cards. They sat us in a waiting area for 10 or so minutes before they said we could board. We were in the ship by 1:15 PM.

I'd just note that the answer to this question varies considerably from one port to another, and sometimes from one day to another. Part of the check-in process depends on local representatives, and they can be slow, delayed, or stretched between multiple ships in port on the same day. So whatever experiences fellow travelers may share here, I'd issue the maxim used in the financial world: "Past performance may not be indicative of future results."
