Is this something new?

Stavanger, Olden and Haugesund are all on our June itinerary, and none are shown as tender ports.

last year we did not make it into Stavanger as even with tug assistance the wind was to strong. Stavanger port is also narrow which does not help.

 

Olden is OK as there is only one jetty with lots of room

 

Alesund has an open approach and room for two large ships

 

Haugesunds approach channel is over 150 metres wide and there is a single long berth

 

None of them are tender ports and IMO Iona would avoid tendering with 5000 passengers unless large local tenders were available

It seems like last summer Norway saw an unusually high number of days with windy conditions that affected cruise ship calls to some ports. The only port Iona had non-weather related problems is Gerainger, which they had to replace with Hellesylt.

Yes, there are no standard issues with any of the ports above. Weather is a different matter.

 

Geiranger and the SeaWalk is still a problem I understand.
