mama d Posted March 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2006 Please do not flame me for asking about dress code as I understand HAL's for regular cruises. I have an opportunity to book a charter cruise on the Westerdam. I am wondering if the "regular" dress code applies or if the person chartering the ship makes that decision. This seems a bit sketchy in the information. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Also any help on whether they use the pre-pay for tips like they do for group cruises. Thank you all so very much for any information you can provide. calm seas, smooth sailings, sunny days
jhannah Posted March 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2006 I think the company that chartered the cruise would be the one to ask this question. Different companies may establish different procedures.
mama d Posted March 10, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted March 10, 2006 Dear Sir, That is what I was trying to find out if HAL kept the Same dress code for charters or if it was up to the company who charters the cruise. :) smooth sailing

benchmarklearning Posted March 11, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 11, 2006 If my company would ever be in a position to charter a HAL ship for a cruise, I as the President would probably choose the "clothing not necessary" or "clothing frowned upon outside of the dining areas" rule. Just kidding YPL!
mama d Posted March 11, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted March 11, 2006 OMGoodness! I think the optional clothing would be a way for me to have the ship all to myself. ;)
AAAAmerican Posted March 11, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2006 Depending upon who is chatering it as well the whole ship.. part of a voayage? Clothing Optional on an Adults Only trip:eek:
Cruiseoften Posted March 11, 2006 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2006 On an 'entire ship' Charter the charterer could probably/possibly call the shots......50/75% charterer - well, the group could (unfortunately) take over - we've had this discussion before and regular cruisers tend to be VERY VERY WARY of Charter Group sailings.......not always pleasant for 'non group cruisers'! kryos Posted March 11, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2006 Dear Sir, That is what I was trying to find out if HAL kept the Same dress code for charters or if it was up to the company who charters the cruise. :) When an organization charters the entire ship, THEY make the decisions as to dress code and other matters regarding onboard life. For example, there are Christian organizations that charter out entire sailings and when they do, often the casino is shut down for the sailing, and the bars only serve soft drinks. They also bring on all of their own entertainers to ensure a totally "Christian" experience. Of course, this sort of thing can only be done if it is a full ship charter by the organization. So, if your sailing is a full-ship charter, the chartering organization would determine the dress code for the sailing. If they want it to be a totally casual cruise, then that is what that sailing will be. You'd have to check with the organization through which you booked to find out what their dress code will be.
