WiFi on the Edge?

Are there any recent Edge sailors that can comment on WiFi service on the Edge? We're on the 7th near the front of the ship.

Wifi depends on how many on board are using it and the location of your ship.  Often slow on TAs far away from land.  Slow in South America and far North Atlantic in Europe. 

We enjoy leaving our phones in our cabin and using the walks to the restaurants to read the menus as a bit of exercise.

We just got back from PC/ABC and Eastern.

We just had regular wifi and it was slooooow.  Kept kicking us out of their app!!

Facetime was a struggle.  Uploading email was a struggle.

Anywhere in the ship.  We had an oceanview on the third deck.  

I heard folks who upgraded to Starlink complaining too.

Celebrity offers two packages, basic and premium. On the 11 Celebrity cruises we've been on since cruising started back up, including 3 on the Edge, the premium service's "download" internet speed is usually 2-3 times as fast as the basic service. So if there are a lot of folks using it at the same time, the basic service is really slow.

 

BTW the basic service, except if you're in a suite, is what you get when you have the All Included package as part of your booked cruise. As such, we always upgrade to the premium package as it helps keep our stress-level down while we're on the cruise. For me there is nothing more annoying than not being able to log onto Cruise Critic when I'm on a cruise, which is usually the case if we're using the basic internet package.
