jameslee Posted March 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2023 When booking thru travel agencies do they usually book it under the name of cruiselines? I got some amex offer from celebrity cruises and sometimes i use agents and it triggers the offer too, but do all agents follow this method and book it under the name of cruiseline when booking thru them and they just take a commission? Cruise Gopher Posted March 20, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2023 Yes they run the charge directly with the cruise line. The cruise lines send the travel agent a commission check directly.

They charge it to the cruise line. I have used the Amex offers several times and I always use a travel agency.

The offer you are taking about is a Platinum Card benefit not one of the card offers they have from time to time. I have not been able to ever make that work. Generally you have to book with American Express Travel for that program. When I priced with them it was more costly than booking with my travel agent even accountig for the offer. There are some indepndent travel agencies that have managed to be in the program but I have never had much luck finding them. Just call up a bunch of agencies and maybe you will have luck. I have offers on my card now for Oceania and Regent and not for Celebrity. Those offers don't require the Cruise Privilege Program. alcpa1 Posted March 20, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 20, 2023 jameslee, Please do not be surprised if your query vanishes. Please familiarize yourself with Cruise Critic rules, particularly those prohibiting the naming of specific travel/cruise companies.
