Waitlist closed 52 days out?

A friend trying to get on HAL Norse Legends May 20 said her Waitlist cancelled due to waitlist being closed out?!  Aren't we like 50+ days from sailing?🤯

 

What's even weirder ... tried to make a waitlist reservation myself today and they were going to allow me to.

Almost every day I read about some similar strange things that seem to happen with the Holland America online site. I booked this cruise a few months ago. Yes, 51 days.

Did they pay HAL a deposit? Or did they just Wait List? There was a time HAL allowed to Wait List with no money but that is no longer. They may have allowed it on hold for a while but then canceled due to no money being deposited.

Paid in full like $4,000 which I thought was odd because how do they know what category they're paying for if they're waitlisted. My point is there's no way they close a wait list 50 days out from the cruise correct somebody's just not telling me the right information. I suspect the travel agent got a match and didn't respond and the waitlist was canceled because of no response to the match🤯

Yes, that may be what happened if $4000.00 was paid and then canceled, but then again I have seen weirder things happen with HAL people having paid totally infull with the exception of a few hundred dollars and the system just canceled the reservation. Of course this was during the start up in 2021 and things were really a mess. But now not as likely but could happen..

So after being told we were close to clearing waitlist, now being told grossly overbooked?  :(

I just checked the HAL site - sold out.  Pretty much all of them are.

It’s past final payment so I suspect there is little chance of many cancellations.
